“I could tell you my therapist recommended I go to the pub.

All of that is true. But I’m really just looking for belonging. For a sliver of public life. To interact with literally anyone without acting like I enjoy running or dogs.” That made me laugh out loud!

“A fluid ounce of hope” is going to stick with me.

I’m excited to follow your experiment! Will you keep field notes from each day? I’m already so curious to see them all laid out at the end.

thank you!!! 🥺 I'm really glad those bits resonated with you!

and yes? I feel anxious about picking a field notes format and hating it by day 3, but I also know even a couple light notes that I also make public will be super useful to help me summarize everything at the end.

Haha I too am very wary of those kinds of commitments! Just making them can feel like a burden. Maybe the format changing can be part of the experiment itself? And also if there are days with no notes I will try not to cry *too much* about it (no promises)

I could get behind an experiment inside an experiment! otherwise I’ll feel constricted by a format, switch to satire to cope, and say things like “Tonight I nodded to one person and acted like lukewarm cask ale is normal.” maybe I don’t even need to do the experiment!!

Amen! May we all nod whenever we please and hold our opinions on lukewarm cask ale freely
